My January Favorites

Wow I haven't written in a while because I'm not on top of things and I don't know what I'm doing with my life, I am ever so sorry. Here I am making a promise to myself to post more often. (Someone please hold me to that).
On that note, I decided to share some of the products and things that I have been loving in 2014 so far!
Origins "A Perfect World" Moisturizers. HOLY are these good. My skin gets super super dry in the winter calling for more attention, and these provide the perfect amount of hydration that my skin needs. I love them. Shout out to my sista Olivia for giving these to me.

Clinique Take The Day Off Balm. I first heard about this from the amazing, Tanya Burr. This was in her daily skincare routine video and she said that it makes your skin feel as if you'd just had a facial; and she's right! It so gentle yet it makes my skin feel so soft and takes off my makeup easily. Lemme tell ya, there ain't nothin better.

Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliator Facial Cleanser.  I use this every other day in addition to my Take The Day Off Balm. This stuff smells so so good and I have thought about tasting some, but resisted.

Volutes Perfume. I'm actually not sure if I'm calling it the right name because it's all in French. But I only have a sample size of this but it smells so good. This is another product that I have learned about from Olivia. I couldn't describe how it smells to you without making you not want it, mainly because I'm awful at describing smells. But to me, it has a scent of old fashioned sophistication? When I'm wearing it I feel like this conversation should be taking place...
Man wearing a fancy dinner server outfit: "Smoking or non-smoking, Mam?"
Me: "Oh please non-smoking. I can't stand that horrid smell."
Man: "Of course. May I take your fur coat?"
Me: "Hm? Ah yes."

My new favorite "T" mug from Anthropologie. S/O to my friend Shannon for getting me this for Christmas. Thx boo, I luvvvvv it

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the color Black Cherry. I absolutely love this, everyone go buy this now, its amazing! My little sister, Chloe, showed me this and I went out and bought it the very next day. It showed up much lighter in the photo, but it's actually quite dark. I love dark lipsticks on pale skin tones (cough my family cough), I think they look so flattering.

This next month coming up I hope to try more things. Whether it be new food, new make-up products, joining a club, or shopping in different stores. I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone a little bit and hopefully being at a new school will give me plenty of opportunity to do so.

New Year Resolutions/Spring Semester Goals

I don't usually do New Years resolutions but coming into the new year I had a lot of goals for myself this semester so I figured I'd label them as "New Year Resolutions". Here they are…

1. Take more pictures! Document everything and I'll thank myself later. In addition to taking more pictures though, I would like to print more too. I have way too many pictures on my camera that never got printed out years ago. I want to have them in my room so I can look at them all the time.

2. Drink more water daily. This past semester I slowly started to drink less and less water until I was drinking close to none. Drinking more water means clearer skin….and I want dat.

3. Don't be lazy when it comes to skincare. don't u dare tara don't u dare

4. Stop procrastinating…I realize this is totally unattainable and is never ever going to happen. But I will try to procrastinate less.

5. Get a job…cuz lawd know baby girl is broke.

I would put more, but I'm afraid I don't think I can keep any more promises to myself. These five will be challenging enough, so das it 4 now!

Dreaming of Anthro

For my first look I wanted to share, I called for the help of my younger sister, Chloe. She agreed to help me throw together a quick outfit and have a little photo-shoot while there was still some light outside (thanks for braving the cold weather for me Chloe, you da bomb). Our whole family is a huge fan of the store Anthropologie, we practically drool over all of the merchandise. So, we decided to use the store as inspiration and with some pieces purchased from there, we attempted to put together a anthro-esque outfit. This outfit is perfect for going to class, shopping, walking around the city, and so much more. It's classy yet casual.

One of my favorite pieces is the statement necklace from Anthropologie. It's shaped like a peter pan collar, which I absolutely adore. Chloe got it as a present from our mom a while back and since its too much of a prized possession to risk wearing to school, we figured we should get some use out of it now! Another favorite of mine is my recently purchased red coat. I'm currently obsessed with it! Lastly, I am in love with this little dark pink clip. My older sister, Olivia, got one of these little beauties for both me and Chloe while she was studying abroad in London. She picked these up while visiting Ireland; they're "hand knitted on the Aran Islands" #thanksliv #luvu.

For Chloe's makeup, we went for something light, quick and easy. I am especially loving the mascara, Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes, and subtle eyeshadow, Stila Portrait of a Perfect Eye Palette, that she is wearing. For her foundation she is wearing Wet n' Wild Coverall Cream Foundation in Fair/Light, her blush is Smashbox Airblush Whipped in Berry Bliss, and on her lips she is wearing Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey.

Dis is my fav, ain't she purdy, y'all?

Trying to seduce me during your photoshoot, Chloe?

Hello All!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Tara and I am from upstate New York. This year I spent my first semester of college in Boston, which I absolutely loved! Boston is an amazing city with many opportunities for adventure. Unfortunately, the school I was at wasn't exactly what I was looking for so I am transferring. Luckily, though, my new school is right outside of NYC allowing for many more opportunities.

As a lover of fashion, I started designing and creating my own clothes in high school. I first was interested in fashion design until I quickly realized that I enjoy recreating costumes from film, TV, and theater much much more than designing clothes. I am an aspiring Costume Design/Technology major.

I'll be posting frequently about fashion and beauty since it is such a big interest of mine. I would describe my style as dainty and vintage preppy with an occasional bit of an edge. Some of my favorites right now are peter pan collars, high-waisted skirts and pants, circle skirts, and velvet! I take inspiration from old TV shows that my mom introduced us to when my sisters and I were younger (shout out to my Mama!). More specifically, I love the styles of Marlo Thomas in That Girl, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, and the more recent Kate Middleton.

Other interests of mine include dancing, figure skating, cheerleading and beauty pageants. Sadly, I think my 'interests' are slowly becoming 'hobbies I used to participate in'. I was a dance major in high school and I was on my college cheerleading team last semester. I have been figure skating all my life, but my schedule has become so busy at school that I never found time to skate. Although I've let go of my10-year-old dream to go to the Olympics one day, I don't think I'll ever let go of skating. It's always going to be something I can go back to and enjoy. I did beauty pageants during high school and I absolutely loved them. Pageants were so much fun because you got to go out on the stage in an fancy outfit or a costume (most of which I made!) and do an exciting routine. Plus, what girl doesn't wish she could dress up like a princess and get a tiara? Despite the fact that pageants are very expensive, I usually got to do a few a year if I was good about saving my money. I can't afford them anymore, #brokecollegestudent , but I do wish to return to the pageant world someday. Perhaps by making custom pageant clothes for cute little kids?! Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Anyway, I am so excited to share my interests through this blog! I hope you continue to follow my journey and enjoy reading my posts!
Until next time!
Tara
